Guide to good practice in urban freight transport

   17-07-2008

This 84-page guide was produced by BESTUFS (BEST Urban Freight Solutions) "Coordination Action", funded by the European Commission. It is divided into three sections:

  • access and loading delivery vehicles in urban areas
  • solutions for the final kilometre
  • urban distribution centres

BESTUFS aims to promote the most satisfactory urban freight solutions. The main objective is to identify, describe and disseminate exemplary practice and key success factors and impediments in implementing city logistics solutions.

Furthermore, BESTUFS aims to develop a European open network bringing together experts, transport operators, projects in progress, European government departments, public authorities and local authorities.

Around twenty countries are involved in BESTUFS, including Switzerland, and there are also links with Australia, Japan and South Africa.

All the information gathered is freely accessible on the BESTUFS website, in English
