PILOT : a European project to harmonize and develop PDUs'1 in European cities

   10-03-2008

Based on the analyses of PDUs carried through in countries where such an approach exists – that is to say France, Italy and the United Kingdom – the goal of this European project consists in preparing a methodology on PDUs, in testing it in four European cities – Braila (Romania), Evora (Portugal), Talinn (Estonia) and Lancaster (UK) – and then in drawing many lessons from it in order to suggest a « ready-made » methodology on PDUs implementation to the European Commission.

Among PILOT (Planning Integrated Local Transport) partners, there are POLIS, ACCESS-Eurocities, Transport & Travel Research (TTR), Ruprecht Consult, Vectris and Sylwia Klatka (consultant). In this project, Certu plays the role of a national expert, in the same way as Cologne, Hampshire, Lille and The Hague.

The PILOT project activities officially started in March 2005 and they have been extended for thirty months.

This project is in keeping with the Commission « Thematic Strategy on the Urban Environment ».
