Traffic crossing through built-up areas is a recurrent problem for road network managers, i.e. local authorities (general councils, and town and village councils) and the State. It is not possible for traffic to detour every village in France, certainly not in the short-term and probably not in the long-term either. It was for this reason that Certu was commissioned to update the 1989 P’titagore guide to crossing urban areas.
