Foreign road safety experiments

France’s ambitious goals insofar as road safety is concerned require changes in the nature and pace of preventive actions to be implemented…Moreover, similar goals are targeted in several developed countries. Some countries have developed programmes, based on a pioneering philosophy or vision, considering the lack of safety as a negative effect of the road transport system. Sweden’s "Vision Zero" policy (aiming for zero serious accidents and no deaths on the road) and Holland’s "sustainable safety" are the most highly-developed concepts that are beginning to show concrete results. Experiments in Great Britain are also worth mentioning.Certu keeps a watch on these foreign experiments via its involvement in international bodies, PIARC and AET (Association for European Transport), and links with TRL (the UK Transport Research Laboratory), and through work carried out within the framework of EU projects (COST, etc.)
