With a view to maintaining and developing know-how in road safety within the technical community, and to ensuring that road safety is taken into consideration across the board, the French Ministry of Ecology and Sustainable Planning and Development has launched a programme on the management of road safety practices.In concrete terms, this implies that the integration of road safety should not be limited to road safety monitoring as performed by the Départément Directorates of Transport, Infrastructure and Housing (DDE), but should permeate all the different departments.Road safety should thus be integrated from the outset in the design of housing developments, for example, at a very early stage in planning. Road safety should therefore be an integral part of all planning documents (Local Urban Planning Schemes and Territorial Coherence Schemes).
