Traffic circles are used to manage conflicts at intersections and to calm traffic speed. They boast the double advantage of curbing the trajectory of traffic and of being easy to cross if necessary. Decree No.95-1090 of 9 October 1995 applies to traffic circles. It sets out certain restrictions on where local authorities can locate them, together with their geometric characteristics. Unlike chicanes, they should not be used on approach roads into a city.
