This is a means of separating traffic for different types of user (motorists, public transport, cyclists and pedestrians, etc.) and ensuring guidance and protection where necessary. Often used to separate reserved lanes from other lanes (e.g. bus lanes), they serve to ensure that other users respect reserved use lanes. However, in certain circumstances, and depending on the site layout, their use is not recommended.
