Consultation – whether in terms of development, the environment or transport – is today more important than ever. Furthermore, increasing numbers of residents are actively participating in consultation processes, in all sorts of different ways. One thing is clear: the way we take decisions has changed for good. This section offers "food for thought" regarding the aims and issues surrounding consultation and participation exercises, as well as information concerning existing measures (statutory consultations, public debates, etc.) and regulations. Finally, it details methods for implementing consultative and participative approaches.
